Enrolment & Update Status: How It Works

Once your Aadhaar application is processed, UIDAI assigns a unique 14-digit Enrolment ID (EID) or Update Request Number (URN). You can use this number to track the status of your Aadhaar in real time.

Methods to Check Aadhaar Status

1. Online via My Aadhaar Portal

The most convenient method is to check your status on UIDAI’s official website.

Steps:

  1. Go to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
  2. Click Check Enrolment & Update Status

  1. Enter your:
    • EID (Enrolment ID), URN, or SRN
    • CAPTCHA code
  2. Click Submit

You’ll be able to view the live status of your Aadhaar enrolment or update request.

2. Check Aadhaar Status via SMS

You can also check your Aadhaar status using a simple SMS command.

Steps:

  • Type the following on your phone:
    UID STATUS [your 14-digit EID]
    (Example: UID STATUS 12345678901234)
  • Send it to 1947

You’ll receive an SMS reply with the latest status of your Aadhaar application.

3. Check via UIDAI’s Toll-Free Number

You can also call UIDAI’s 24/7 support line:

Steps:

  • Dial 1947 (UIDAI’s toll-free helpline)
  • Follow the IVR prompts and select the option for “Aadhaar Status”
  • Provide your EID or URN when prompted

The system will share your current application status instantly, and support is available in multiple Indian languages.

Check Aadhaar Status Without Enrolment Number

If you’ve misplaced your acknowledgement slip or don’t remember your EID, don’t worry — you can retrieve it online.

Steps:

  1. Visit https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
  2. Click Retrieve EID / Aadhaar Number
  3. Choose to retrieve either:
    • Aadhaar Number
    • Enrolment ID (EID)

  1. Enter your:
    • Full name
    • Registered mobile number and/or email
    • CAPTCHA code
  2. Click “Send OTP”, then enter the OTP received on your phone

Once verified, UIDAI will send your EID or Aadhaar number to your registered mobile.

Important: Once recovered, you can use this number to check your application or update status. If you experience any issues, you can visit your nearest Jan Seva Kendra or contact the Aadhaar helpline.

Understanding SRN, URN & EID — What’s the Difference?
